Job Summary
AECOM is currently seeking a Fire Engineering Associate Director with a
building consultancy background to join our Central London team. It is your
role to run operations- provide designs- manage a team and run projects as a
fully established and qualified Fire Engineer. You will have Fire Safety or
Fire Protection design experience within a consultancy environment.

Job Responsibilities:

You core responsibility within AECOM will be the timely delivery of projects in budget and to schedule. To do this you will work on detailed or routine fire engineering assignments involving calculations- sketches- diagrams- fire strategy drawings and fire strategy reports. You will also be tasked with supporting our project managers in the management of project costs- information and correspondence.

We will need you to be a technical expert as you will contribute to the development of technical proposals and add to the knowledge of the fire team- As well as being a technical expert you will be expected to mentor junior team members and depending on your experience people manage a small team.

It`s important that you have an eye for detail as you will gather and correlate basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures. You will also foresee and propose approaches to solve new challenges as they come up whilst doing all of this you will be sure to Identify discrepancies in results and report/resolve any issues relating to them.

Part of your role will involve business development and the managing client relationships through the entire life cycle of a project. You will strive to do more than provide a service you will cross sell and identify opportunities by asking relevant questions at the right time.

It would be of benefit if you have experience with most of the below Systems:

Microsoft Outlook- Word- Excel and PowerPoint

NIST- Fire Dynamics Simulator

BST Enterprise financial management

ACADS BSG- Hyena and Camel

Xtralis- Aspire

Minimum Requirements

BEng Mechanical degree or professional equivalent

Experience in technical and client facing roles- managing and delivering projects and working as part of a larger team

Experience of applying fire engineering in the design of buildings

Understanding of International and UK/US design standards

Knowledge of the design codes for all main types of buildings- including offices- schools- hospitals- stations- airports and residential

Excellent report-writing and presentation skills

Preferred Qualifications

A clear work history and proof of professional development and learning

Ideally you will live locally to the office or be willing to relocate

Knowledge of the fundamentals of fire suppression system design- including the preparation / review of system drawings- different types of sprinkler systems (conventional- dry pipe systems- open deluge and pre-action) and alternative suppression systems such as gas suppression- oxygen reduction systems and water mist
