JOB SUMMARY
The Director| Market and Digital Research| Europe| is the market and digital
research expert for the Europe Continent| utilizing leading market research
techniques to create breakthrough Consumer Insight| guide business strategies|
and support broader Europe Continent objectives. The Director| who will be co-
located with the Europe team in London| is responsible for conducting and
managing primary research efforts for key business stakeholders in Europe| and
for leading the Europe component of global research efforts. The Director is
responsible for managing vendors to execute against market research needs and
delivering impactful client-ready presentations on the outcomes from market
research efforts. This position works closely with the Consumer Insight
Advisors in Europe and at HQ to design and execute leading-edge market and
digital research projects to answer key business questions in Europe. This
person also works closely with the Director| Market Research Platforms| to
ensure the adoption of leading-edge techniques and vendors| and to effectively
pull through findings from enterprise-level platforms (e.g. brand health) to
day-to-day research projects. The Director is considered the Europe Continent
team’s authority in the area of market research.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education and Experience

8+ years of professional experience| demonstrating progressive career growth and a pattern of exceptional performance in consumer research positions.

Bachelor’s degree required| preferably in a consumer- or analytics-oriented discipline (e.g. consumer research| operations research| economics| statistics| social psychology| consumer psychology).

Master’s or other advanced degree in a marketing or research discipline desirable

Demonstrated ability to manage projects| programs| stakeholders and vendors to deliver impactful business outcomes

Fluency in a European language (e.g. German| French| Spanish); native speaker desirable but not required. Closely partners with Europe team and vendors on translation/trans-creation efforts to support research testing

Experience working on both the vendor-side and client-side desirable but not required

Key Skills and Experience

Demonstrated expertise in consumer research methods (e.g. survey design| statistics| sampling theory| in cross-cultural settings)

Extensive experience in conducting qualitative and quantitative research studies including focus groups| IDIs| ethnographic research| max diff| conjoint

Extensive experience leading complex| high profile| multi-brand research initiatives and programs such as brand tracking

Solid track record of advancing business direction and strategies and ability to influence change

Outstanding vendor management and project management skills; highly detail-oriented

Highly effective oral/written communication abilities; and excellent presentation skills

Innovative thinker with broad business view; can balance strategic and financial perspectives

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES

Lead and manage market and digital research efforts in the Europe Continent|
with implications to the global landscape and specific brand strategies.

Plans and leads execution of market and digital research efforts within the Europe Continent| either Continent-directed| or as a component of a global program (e.g. brand health survey| consumer segmentation| guest satisfaction).

Provides thought leadership and standards of practice to design and execute market and digital research projects (e.g. optimal research approach and methods to use to generate insights on consumer preference/behavior and to inform strategy and practice). Partners with internal stakeholders| vendors and legal teams to ensure customer data review and collection meets Marriott research requirements| particularly GDPR

Plans/leverages research/intelligence efforts across Europe to optimize investment and maximize value to the Europe Continent team and to MI.

Partners closely with the Europe Customer Experience Advisor (co-manager); providing regular updates on all Research efforts’ status and keeping abreast of key activities in the region. Also collaborates with global Consumer Insight Advisors – and broader Customer Experience team for research efforts in Europe.

Regularly evaluates existing and prospective vendors that may be used to support market research in Europe.

Participates in Europe Continent forums as the market and digital research expert.
