Job Summary
Our UK based Strategic Consultancy team undertakes a wide range of technical
management consultancy projects. Our client range is diverse and includes
national and private asset owners and operators- infrastructure construction
organisations and environmental agencies. We provide expertise in:
Transport Policy- Strategy and Safety:
Change Management
Development of maintenance contracts- including associated process & procedures and performance metrics
Improvement of Incident Management
Statistical analysis of collisions and development of Safety Strategy

Guidance- standards and specification development

Development and implementation of Litter Strategy

Sustainability & Resilience:

Climate change risk assessments and development of adaptation measures

Construction materials resource efficiency and optimisation

Measurement of carbon footprint of construction activities and development of management processes

Severe weather planning

Emergency Planning

Research & Innovation:

Technology trials

Traffic management research

Pavement engineering research

Highway Asset Management:

Strategic- tactical and operational advice

Investment support/Value Management

Whole life costing

Asset management plans/lifecycle plans

Efficiency- lean and value management

Human Factors:

Human factors and ergonomics design support

Human factors integration management

User insight qualitative and quantitative research

Disabled accessibility guidance

Wayfinding strategies

Development of industry good practice guidance

Our staff are multi-disciplinary with technical expertise in science-
engineering- statistics and commercial aspects. Consequently- we have the
capability- expertise and mindset to develop solutions applicable to a wide
range of problems. Research is business focussed- based on a comprehensive
understanding of our clients| organisations- often with a strong commercial
basis – we develop solutions that are deliverable. We are looking to
strengthen our Strategic Consultancy team with a key Operations and
Maintenance (O&M) Consultant recruit to fulfil the following responsibilities:

Support the Team Leader and other team members in delivering well-researched
solutions on a variety of transportation and infrastructure based projects. In
addition- to support the wider O&M capability with the Roads Sector- bidding
and delivering operational projects in the UK and worldwide. Key skills and
disciplines are provided below:

Source- review- collate and report information from a variety of sources

Take ownership for project tasks with direction from the Project Manager

Support Project Control functions acting as a Deputy Project Manager

Be able to contribute at a strategic level to clients| requirements

Develop novel bespoke solutions on a project-by-project basis

Display a positive attitude to all activities and tenacity to meet deadlines

Display initiative whilst consulting with colleagues when appropriate

Demonstrate the ability to exert influence over situations and resources

Demonstrate capability and judgment in the performance of tasks

Apply appropriate standards and technology in the performance of tasks

Work flexibly and contribute to the work and performance of the team

Communicate effectively with colleagues and clients

Uphold the ethical and quality standards of AECOM

Minimum Requirements

Extensive experience of working with government transport based clients (e.g. DfT- Highways England- Network Rail- London Underground- TfL- Transport Scotland- Office of Rail Regulation- Rail Safety and Standards Board- local authorities)- or in a research establishment (including well respected universities).

Experience of task and project management including financial performance measurement and project controls.

Experience of providing engineering / technical management consultancy/research advice to such clients.

Excellent communication (written and verbal) and stakeholder management skills.

Strong analytical and reasoning skills.

Ability to develop innovative solutions and exhibit innovative thinking.

Knowledge of the key issues and opportunities facing transportation in the UK.

Demonstrable discipline areas of interest are: transportation policy and strategy; O&M process- procedure and performance requirements; maintenance contracts and specifications; asset management including assessment of highways and rail renewal programmes; managed motorways expertise; lean construction; safety and simulations; transport operations; risk analysis; statistical analysis; technology; financial modelling; transport planning.

Experience of and ability to identify new opportunities and clients and contribute positively to the diversification of Strategic Consultancy|s project and client portfolio

Preferred Qualifications

Degree / HND- ideally in a transport related discipline

Ideally Chartered in a relevant institution (e.g. ICE- MCIHT)
