Job Summary
AECOM is currently recruiting for a Principal Engineer with having strong
desalination experience from a Mechanical- Process- or Chemical Engineering
background to join our established Power and Energy team to work on power-
energy and desalination projects in the Europe- Middle East- India- and Africa
regions. The role would be based in our Bristol office- although basing in our
Chesterfield or London offices could be considered.
Recent projects within the team have included providing supervisor services
for the design and construction of two Independent Water Projects in th
Middle East- feasibility and concept designs for desalination facilities for
Mediterranean power plant- and availability auditing of operating desalinatio
facilities for the off-taker.
We are bidding on a number of Owner`s and Lenders` Engineer roles in Europe-
Middle East- and Africa which would require both design and construction
supervision.
As a Principal Engineer- you will be a senior member of our Process Mechanical
Engineering team involved in the design- development and construction of
power- energy- and desalination projects.
Our projects involve working as part of a multi-disciplinary engineering team
and you will at times find yourself leading these teams and being responsible
for the successful completion of projects.
You will ideally have a background in both thermal and membrane desalination
technologies and have an appreciation of the challenges and rewards of working
in an engineering consultancy business. Experience power and energy industry
or oil and gas sector would be desirable.
The successful candidate will have a willingness to work on UK- European- and
International based projects and be willing to undertake overseas travel and
working.
Senior technical resource may serve as technical advisor for team
Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff|s specific area of expertise.
Develops study and design procedures to facilitate high quality cost effective work by others.
Participates in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.
Develops construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projects.
Uses expertise in all steps of completing discipline component of PS&E package.
Performs quality control review of design calculations or drawings.
Prepares technical specification sections.
Provides input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements.
Minimum Requirements
You will ideally have demonstrable experience including:
Project and engineering management of power or large industrial developments including pre-feasibility and feasibility studies- concept design- design review and technical advisor roles- specification- detailed design- site supervision- commissioning- testing- and acceptance
Leading a multidiscipline team of engineers and technicians
Knowledge of power generation technologies and major equipment and plant suppliers
Familiarity with simulation and analysis software- such as IMSDesign- Toray- ThermoFlow software suite- or Gate Cycle as a user or manager
Experience in the preparation of technical specifications for EPC- EPC-M- and BOO contracts for the implementation of power or large industrial projects
An interest and willingness to take part in the business development activities of the team
Process equipment design
Generation of Process Flow Diagram`s- P&IDs and Mass and Energy balances-
Experience of MSF and MED thermal desalination- brackish and sea water reverse osmosis processes and equipment including pre- and post-treatment of feed- product- and brine for both industrial and utility owners.
Preferred Qualifications
You will be a Process- Mechanical or Chemical Engineer and will ideally be chartered and degree educated in one of those disciplines.
