Principal Engineer- Solutions Architecture
The CI/HCI Solution Architect is responsible for the installation
configuration- and integration of VxBlock- VxRack and VxRail systems. This i
a customer facing role- also responsible for customer low level configuratio
workshops- factory logical configuration- and installation and configuratio
of additional products and components with Vblock systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct Logical Configuration Survey calls with clients- recommending designs based on customer requirements and equipment purchased
Factory logical configuration of Vblock systems.
Installation of VxBlock- VxRack and VxRail systems on-site at customer locations
Configuration of VxBlock- VxRack and VxRail components- including but not limited to Cisco UCS- Cisco C-class servers- vSphere- UIM- Windows- Linux
Comprehensive backup and testing of all installed VxBlock components
Responsible for implementing- supporting and toubleshooting the upgrades of data centres built using DELL EMC converged and hyper converged infrastructure. He/She should have expert knowledge in implementing & Supporting one or more of the technology domains such as data centre networking- unified data center storage infrastructure- VMware virtualization & Cisco UCS compute infrastructure
In-depth Knowledge Transfer of VxBlock- VxRail and VxRail systems to customers
Hardware- software and firmware upgrades of VxBlock- VxRack and VxRail systems and components
Preparation and completion of required pre and post deployment documentation
Mentoring of CI/HCI partners in VxBlock- VxRack and VxRail technology and deployment
Cross-training in all VxBlock components and technologies to be able to perform tasks in one or both of storage and networking alongside primary virtualization skillset.
Sales or pre-sales support and qualification
Requirements:
VCP 5+
Cisco UCS qualifications and experience.
Experienced in delivering converged and hyper converged systems
6 – 10 years` experience with VMware/Hyper-V- Enterprise Virtualization technologies. This experience should include planning- deployment- configuration and administration
The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise in the use of data centre products and their use in the design of converged infrastructure through network- compute- storage and virtualization architecture. In addition- IT people/process consulting knowledge and experience- understanding of data centre physical requirements specific to power- cooling- cabling etc.
Experience installing and configuring vSphere- Windows- Linux- rack and chassis based servers
Certified to deliver Isilon- VPLEX- RecoverPoint.
Knowledge of vCloud Director- SRM- vCenter Operations desirable
Working knowledge of storage products and services from DellEMC.
Working knowledge of network protocols
Strong problem solving skills.
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Professional- dependable- and flexible team player.
Must work well under pressure
Experienced in management of vendors for hardware and software support and warranties.
Have the ability to handle multiple tasks at the same time.
Proficiency in hardware- software and/or operating systems environments.
Ability to work effectively with senior management.
Mentoring/Coaching skills
Understanding of ITIL foundations
Willingness to travel and spend time away from home on a regular basis
Willingness to participate in weekend work as required as part of a roster for scheduled work (not on-call)
