Job Summary
AECOM`s London based Stadiums and long-span structures team are looking for a
Principal or possibly Senior Structural Engineer with experience in high
concept structural engineering design that is done in partnership with
industry leading Architects.
We recognise that experience with these kinds of projects is not easy to come
by and that this is a great opportunity to specialises in a global sized but
niche market for Engineers.
You will need to have experience in high-profile and iconic architectural
structures and the 3D parametric design of complex geometry using Rhino an

Grasshopper or similar.

This is not a junior position and we do require engineers who are proven at

senior or principal level which normally means Chartered or close to. You will
work with a high level of autonomy and be able to demonstrate a wide variety
of technical knowledge with some people management and client-side exposure.

We are currently working on the 45-000 seater Al Wakrah Stadium in Qatar-
50-000 seater Japoma Stadium in Cameroon and Hong Kong`s International Airport
with industry leading Architect practices.

On a day to day basis you will be involved in the design of a wide range of
long-span structural projects that are both complex and challenging. We will
work through these as a team from concept through to completion. To clarify-
the bulk of our work is focused on early design and feasibility for big name
international projects- but we do also offer full RIBA Stage services.

Responsibilities will include:

Undertaking structural engineering projects- performing analyses and calculations as appropriate.

Developing structural details including general arrangements and interface detailing.

Supervising work- ensuring that it is carried out to the appropriate technical standard and that it is managed to programme and budget.

Leading/supervising a team of engineers and technicians designing building structures.

Effectively control commercial- managerial and technical aspects of the projects which you are responsible for.

Minimum Requirements

A graduate in Civil or Structural Engineering or equivalent with experience of Structural Engineering in directly relevant fields including a broad knowledge of structural materials including but not limited to steel- concrete and timber.

Ability to deliver high quality structural design solutions including strong creative and conceptual design skills- analysis and calculations to a level of detailed construction information and coordinated with other disciplines.

Specific experience in the design and detailing of architectural steelwork structures- including the use of 3D parametric modelling (Rhino- Grasshopper).

A solid track record of having worked on a variety of Large scale Long-span projects- possibly as project leader on some- with experience of dealing directly with architects and clients.

Preferred Qualifications

Ideally you will be a Senior or Principal Structural Engineer who is chartered MIStructE.

A clear work history and proof of professional development and learning.
