Relations Manager to join the UK & Ireland Communications team

The PR Manager is responsible for executing Marriott International’s UK and
Ireland communications strategy| driving top tier media results through
compelling stories and creative brand activations for the hotels diverse UK
portfolio. The position will collaborate closely with the Marriott
International Europe Communications team to ensure the pull-through of brand
strategies and messaging in the market. Hotel brands include W Hotels| Moxy|
Marriott Hotels| Le Meridien| Renaissance Hotels| Autograph Collection| St.
Regis and The Luxury Collection.

The PR Manager will report into the Director of Communications for UK&
Ireland.

CORE FOCUS AREAS

Local Hotel PR. Work with the Director of Communications to create and execute the strategic annual PR plans for local hotels| across Rooms| Spa| Food & Beverage| and Events including partnerships| tactical campaigns and packages. The PR Manager will work closely with the GM| Hotel| Sales and Marketing team to align on goals and the property and company business plans.

International Hotel PR. Support cross-market collaboration with other Marriott International PR teams to secure press coverage for key international hotels and brand activations. Ensure pull through of brand / corporate messaging in all activity.

Press Office. Act as the main point of contact for local media in the market. Respond to day-to-day journalist enquiries| image and accommodation requests| focusing on top-tier media.

Media/Influencer Relations. Build on and develop the black book of media contacts that you have within the top-tier travel/trade| business| consumer and F&B press and bloggers/influencers as well as local news media. Secure regular meetings with editors/influencers to ensure that Marriott International| its brands and hotels remain top of mind. Proactively pitch local hotel news as well as major organisation/brand announcements in local market.

Crisis and Issues Communications. Support Director of Communications in crisis/issues communications in the market| to gather facts| draft responses| field incoming media requests and monitor coverage.

PR Agency Liaison. Manage local hotel PR agencies (where applicable) on a day-by-day basis. Ensure a smooth flow of communication between the in-house PR team and the retained PR agencies

Press and Briefing Materials. Manage the development| approval and updating of press kit materials| including press releases| fact sheets| bios| backgrounders| etc. for hotels in the market. Prepare briefing materials and messaging/positioning documents for GMs and hotel team members in preparation for media interviews.

Media Visits. Organise and host inbound international media groups and individual visits to local hotels| working with appropriate tourism bodies when relevant. Supervise and execute press site inspections for local hotels. Organise and host outbound group and individual press trips to international priority properties on the basis of the annual press trip calendar.

Photo/Film Shoots. Work with local film houses| TV companies and location scouts to promote UK hotels as a venue for filming and photo shoots. Carry out media and filming show-rounds for local properties and manage film/photo shoots to ensure that our hotels and brands are portrayed favourably.

CSR. Help to tell Marriott International’s CSR story in the market. Secure press coverage for CSR activities/awards and recognition in order to promote MI’s Serve 360 strategy.

PR Measurement & Reporting. Measure results of PR campaigns/programmes in alignment with European metrics and report out to key stakeholders.

Internal Communications: Help to create articles on hotel news| PR activities and brand events in the UK & Ireland for MI internal channels.

Europe Media Centre. Oversee the prompt uploading of press releases and images for key hotel| brand and Marriott International stories of interest to market media

Newsletter. Oversee the monthly UK & Ireland media newsletter

Guide and mentor PR Executive. Manage workload of PR Executive and oversee his / her training and development.

CANDIDATE PROFILE – KEY TALENTS AND EXPERIENCE DESIRED

Experience

Minimum 5 years of public relations| marketing communications and corporate communications experience| preferably within the travel / hospitality / lifestyle sector.

Hotel and/or brand experience preferred.

Experience and ability to manage the interests and demands of multiple stakeholders.

Experience in working with PR agencies

Experience in launching new products| services or brands

Event management experience

Experience managing budgets

Education or Certification

University degree

Or equivalent in Public Relations / Communications / Marketing.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

Strategic thinker and strong leadership skills

Clear communicator with solid writing and messaging skills

Strong media contacts within market (travel/trade| business| lifestyle| luxury)

Proficiency in multiple languages a plus

High degree of personal loyalty and integrity
