Job Summary
We are looking to recruit an experienced Software Developer to our Digital
Solutions Team.
This role could be based in Newcastle- London or Birmingham.
The team is expanding to meet the demands of our wide portfolio of projects
and clients from both within the UK and overseas. This role has been created
to support our ambition to grow significantly over time- offering significant
career progression opportunities within AECOM for the right person. The team
provides full design- implementation and maintenance services to a wide range
of internal and external clients. The team is currently based in Birmingham
London and Newcastle; to further expand our market we are looking for a stron
individual to expand the team in any of those locations.
The successful candidate will have several years of relevant experience and
will have proven design and development skills delivering to quality- time and
budget. They will have experience of working as part of software teams
developing a variety of technologies focus on either PHP andor .Net. The role
would suit a self-motivated individual looking to advance their career in a
dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity to join an accomplished team and
work on a variety of exciting and innovative projects for our various clients.
Responsibilities:
The right candidate will be responsible for developing- maintaining and
supporting software applications- predominately for our transportation and
aviation clients.
The appropriate level of technical expertise is required in order that the
Job/ Project Accountabilities listed below can be carried out to the necessary
standards:
Receive project brief and conduct the work with minimum supervision.
Plan and undertake small projects without significant guidance.
Ensure technical content and quality of output produced is in line with the project brief.
Produce deliverables against agreed timescales and in line with budget.
Attend project progress meetings and clearly present task overviews.
Contribute to the design and planning of larger projects.
Minimum Requirements
It is essential that you have some experience with one or more of the
following web stacks;
Stack 1 – Open Source; J Query- HTMLJavaScriptCSS- MySQL- PHP
Stack 2 – Microsoft.Net; Visual Studio- C#Language- Asp.NetMVCWeb API-
Entity Framework- SQL Server
Whilst not essential- any of the following skills would be desirable:
1. Mobile software development
2. Project and Service Desk management using JIRA
3. Source Code Control in GIT or equivalent
4. Experience with Google APIs and analytics
5. Development of map driven solutions
Good appreciation of software architecture and its real world implications.
Understanding of database design and implementation.
Preferred Qualifications
A degree or masters degree in Computer Science or other relevant subject.
Note: Professional development experience will be strongly considered in lieu
of a relevant degree
